Just 10 km from the ocean, the Xareta Territori "wooded land", in the Basque language, includes four towns located on both sides of the border: Sara and Ainhoa in Lapurdi, Urdax and Zugarramurdi in Navarre.
Throughout the centuries, the inhabitants of these four towns have always interrelated. There are many testimonials to illustrate this: caves, dolmens, the "Akelarre" the Camino de Santiago, the Carlist wars and smuggling.
