The Hotel Rural Irigoienea has become a member of the Club de Oferta Observar Aves en Navarra. (Navarran Bird watching Provider Club)

The diverse landscape of Navarre has given rise to a rich birdlife. More than 330 species have been detected in our Region, of which 250 have a regular presence (residents, winter birds, summer birds and stopover species). Due to its small area (scarcely 10,000 squared kms.), travelling time necessary is short, allowing varied and interesting bird watching days.

Aware of the increase in bird watching tourism, the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Navarran Government has decided to organise services for birdwatchers, creating "Observar Aves en Navarra/Birding Navarra", for which it has called on the help of experts in birdlife, the public use and activities in nature as well as the collaboration of the Department of the Environment.

From "Birding Navarra" a Bird watching Information Network has been set up to guide the tourist and the professional with respect to the possibilities that Navarre offers for bird watching with a detailed website (www.birding.navarra.es), and six Bird watching Information Points which are active and inter-coordinated throughout the Navarran territory and which inform the visitors in situ.

The Hotel Irigoienea, as a member of the Club de Oferta Observar Aves en Navarra, has actively taken part in the workshops to create a Manual of Good Environmental Practice, and of a Birdwatcher's Ethical Code. It has taken part in the workshops of Introducción a la Observación de Aves (Introduction to Bird watching). It has also taken field trips to experience the activity, get to know the materials, etc..
